Prosperous and resilient Himalayas

9th September,2026 Download

Prosperous and resilient Himalayas sets out a new resilient growth model for the Indian Himalayas as glacier loss, water insecurity and climate-related hazards intensify. It finds that the region underpins more than 20% of India’s GDP and identifies 10 critical transitions to protect natural systems, strengthen resilience and support sustainable prosperity, with potential returns of around 8x per rupee invested.

Our thoughts are with the communities across Nepal and the wider Himalayan region who have lost so much in the disaster of August 2026. This report was already underway before that event, but we share this abridged version now, ahead of its full publication in October, in the hope it contributes to the resilience building this region urgently needs.

If you would like to discuss this further with a member of our team, please contact Arushi Chopra or Deeptanshu Kotru.
