Peter Matrai is a senior international executive, advisor and Board member with an extensive background in disruptive technology driven businesses and sustainability, including launching and growing ventures in different industries and geographies. He has led the fundraise for SYSTEMIQ and is advising the company in deploying its funds to achieve systemic level impact.
He was the strategic CFO of Joule, a privately held low carbon fuel technology company, where he led the acquisition of Red Rock Biofuels, another alternative energy company, and successfully closed a fundraise. Prior to Joule, Peter was the CFO and COO of Butamax, a biofuel and biochemical technology development and commercialization company owned by BP and DuPont, where he led the first commercial scale deployment of the company’s proprietary technology and was responsible for strategy, finance, corporate development, commercial deployment and corporate operations.
Peter has an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business as well as Master’s degrees in finance from the Budapest University of Economics and Université Paris II. He is a founding member and serves on the board of HTTP Foundation, a nonprofit organization that promotes e-learning and education in collaboration with Cisco Systems. Peter lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with his wife and son. He loves whales and travels all over the world to see them.
