Det forventes at plastinnholdet kommer til \u00e5 \u00f8ke til ca. 280kg per kj\u00f8ret\u00f8y innen 2040, s\u00e6rlig ettersom trenden g\u00e5r mot st\u00f8rre biler og mer bruk av elbiler, der lav vekt er viktig og det er mindre strenge krav til varmebestandighet. Disse trendene har gjort at plast har hopet seg opp i den norske kj\u00f8ret\u00f8yparken, til anslagsvis 740,000 tonn i 2020.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<span class=\"blue\">\u00d8kningen i bruken av plast har f\u00f8rt til \u00f8kt drivstoffeffektivitet og dermed lavere utslipp i bruksfasen, men det har ogs\u00e5 bidratt til en nedgang i materialenes gjenvinnbarhet og dermed flyttet milj\u00f8belastningen fra bruksfasen til sluttbehandlingsfasen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Plast har typisk blitt brukt til \u00e5 erstatte st\u00e5lkomponenter i kj\u00f8ret\u00f8yer, noe som umiddelbart reduserer sannsynligheten for gjenvinning av materialene ettersom materialgjenvinningsgraden for st\u00e5l er h\u00f8yere og det er lettere \u00e5 sortere ut st\u00e5l enn plast fra de fragmenterte restene. I tillegg har antallet ulike polymerer som brukes, \u00f8kt, s\u00e6rlig konstruksjonsplast, i tillegg til at det har v\u00e6rt \u00f8kt bruk av komponenter i kompositt- og multimaterialer, som gj\u00f8r mekanisk gjenvinning av plast fra kj\u00f8ret\u00f8yer ekstremt utfordrende. Selv om post shredder-teknologi er kommersielt tilgjengelig og under stadig utvikling, er det ikke vanlig praksis \u00e5 bruke slike l\u00f8sninger da de fleste land har ingen \u00f8konomiske eller regulatoriske insentiver for dette.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dagens regelverk fokuserer ikke i stor nok grad p\u00e5 plast, men dette forventes \u00e5 endre seg n\u00e5r det reviderte direktivet for kasserte kj\u00f8ret\u00f8yer trer i kraft, med materialspesifikke m\u00e5l for resirkulert innhold og gjenvinning<sup><a href=\"\/reports\/veien-til-sirkulaer-plast\/plast-med-lang-levetid\/konklusjon\/#bibliography\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">24<\/a><\/sup>.<\/strong> Endrede ambisjoner i regelverket er avgj\u00f8rende for \u00e5 f\u00e5 p\u00e5 plass de investeringene i infrastrukturen som trengs for \u00e5 gjenvinne bilplast etter endt levetid.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner column_padding=&#8221;no-extra-padding&#8221; Potensialet for mekanisk gjenvinning i lukket kretsl\u00f8p er derfor begrenset.<\/p>\n<p>Det er fortsatt mulig \u00e5 bruke mekanisk gjenvunnet materiale fra andre sektorer, men b\u00e5de kvaliteten og kvantiteten gj\u00f8r at omfanget er begrenset. Disse tekniske utfordringene og det faktum at lettfraksjonen egner seg s\u00e5 godt for varmebehandling, gj\u00f8r at vi forventer at kjemisk gjenvinning kommer til \u00e5 spille en stadig viktigere rolle i sektoren \u2013 dog som et supplement til andre metoder.
