A GREEN & DIGITAL DEAL FOR ROTTERDAM

22nd June,2022 Download

In October 2021, the European Parliament embraced a more ambitious approach to Europe’s climate targets by adopting the European Green Deal. Aiming for a climate-neutral Europe by 2050 can potentially boost the economies of Rotterdam and the Netherlands, while unlocking funding for strategic projects to enable societal transitions and create a more sustainable economy.

The City of Rotterdam is rising to the challenge. Working in collaboration with Systemiq, it wrote the Green & Digital Deal for Rotterdam, intended as the first step towards a strategy that can bring this vision to life. The Green & Digital Deal for Rotterdam is intended as an inspiration document that approaches the transitions towards net-zero, a circular economy, resilience and digitalisation in a coherent manner. It directly connects to the language and methodologies of the System Change Compass and key EU policy documents. It proposes six missions that Rotterdam should tackle as a priority, and concludes with a call to form impact coalitions between the City, the business community and civil society organisations.
